Bucs, Addressed Needs On Day One
Tampa, FL - The Buccaneers addressed needs on the first day of the draft, by selecting Kansas CB Aqib Talib in the first round, then by trading down in the second round with the Jaguars. The Bucs addressed their need for speed by drafting Appalachian State WR Dexter Jackson, after trading down six selections from 52 to number 58 in round two.

Around the Division- Who Did Our Rivals Select?
Atlanta, New Orleans and Carolina have all made their 1st round picks of the 2008 draft. Unsurprisingly, the Falcons jumped on Matt Ryan. The Saints traded up to the 7th pick, making a deal with the devil in the Patriots and nabbing DT Sedrick Ellis and Carolina added to their backfield in the form of RB Jonathon Stewart.
Hickey Addresses Draft Questions
Tampa, FL - Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of college scouting Dennis Hickey gave a pre-draft press conference at One Buc Place on Tuesday. Hickey discussed the teams general draft strategy as well as the long process that goes into evaluating college prospects leading up to draft day and the discussions that happen inside the war room.
Bucs Schedule Announced
Tampa, FL - The NFL released the schedule for the 2008 season today. The Bucs will open the 2008 regular season at the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Sept. 7. The game will be played at 1:00 p.m. ET, the Bucs will also be back on prime time with three nationally televised games in 2008.

Tampa, FL – Derrick Dewan Brooks was born on April 18, 1973 in Pensacola, Florida. He was a star varsity football player for Booker T. Washington high school where he won a State Championship in 1990. Derrick was recruited by all the major colleges, including Florida Sate, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama and Notre Dame. He signed a letter of intent to play college football at Florida State University where he won a National title in 1993.
West Coast Passers
In a system that uses passing to pick up most of its yardage and set up the run a QB must be able to think and react quickly. The quarterback has to be able to work quickly in the pocket, dropping back, setting up and releasing the ball; all must be completed with precision and exact timing. The West Coast offense is not based on how far a QB can fit the ball downfield but more on how many yards the receiver can pick up after the catch.
